When Orange County Justice Fund (OCJF) was first established in 2017, there were no Orange County (OC)-based legal services providers that provided removal defense legal services. OCJF began to advocate for universal representation, similar to a public defender system in immigration court to ensure that no OC resident is forced to defend themselves from deportation without representation. Over the years, OCJF continues to generate systemic change in the immigration legal system by championing different state and local campaigns including the end of ICE transfers, the closures of ICE detention centers, and city and county budget equity. OCJF recognizes the importance of collaboration in achieving its goals. The organization has cultivated strong connections with local, state, and national organizations that share its mission of immigrant justice. By working together with partners and stakeholders, OCJF maximizes its impact and effectiveness in advocating for systemic change. Orange County Justice Fund received $50,000 in funding for 2022 and 2023.
