California Black Lawyers Association and Black Women Lawyers of Northern CA have thrown their support behind AB7.
The legislation, which passed the California Assembly in June, would bypass the Supreme Court’s ban on affirmative action by allowing colleges to give preference to descendants of slaves.

ICE’s unconstitutional and dangerous arrests have earned them multiple lawsuits from Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Bay Area (LCCR).
The organization is suing ICE for ongoing courthouse arrests of immigrants, particularly LGBTQ and female immigrants seeking protection. Separately, LCCR also sued after ICE arrested a 22 year old asylum seeker and farmworker on false charges of gang affiliation.

DOJ lawyers would rather quit than defend current administration

69 of the 110 lawyers who work for the Justice Department’s Federal Programs Branch—which defends presidential administrations from lawsuits—have quit. That’s roughly 2/3 of the branch.
“Many of these people came to work at Federal Programs to defend aspects of our constitutional system,” one departed DOJ lawyer told Reuters. “How could they participate in the project of tearing it down?”
