Mariam Rizko does not come from a long line of college graduates in her family. In fact, she is the first and the only one in her immediate family to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree, and now she is motivated to pursue her Juris Doctor degree. After growing up in a broken justice system in Iraq and witnessing the killing of her uncle at the hands of the terrorists, Mariam is motivated to pursue a career in criminal law. Carrying the wisdom of her personal experiences, she is passionate about practicing law with the primary goal of helping people and ensure justice is served. After passing the California Bar Exam, she plans to work with the Public Defender’s office to help those in need of legal assistance who might not otherwise be able to afford attorneys. Mariam is a 1L at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
