Jade Magaña was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where she learned the importance of community. She was a Paralegal Specialist for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. Jade investigated police departments, jails, and prisons on behalf of the United States for potential civil rights violations. She helped monitor, negotiate, and enforce the United States’ consent decrees to bring criminal justice systems into compliance. Upon graduation, Jade plans to transform California’s prison and police system into one that promises fair and equitable rehabilitation. Jade is a 1L at UCLA School of Law.
