Esmeralda Maldonado was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and immigrated to the US with her parents who were seasonal farm workers in Salinas, CA. She decided to become an immigration lawyer after seeing her parents and grandparents struggle trying to navigate the immigration system without accessible legal assistance. Esmeralda is a graduate of Monterey College of Law. Her host organization is Watsonville Law Center (WLC) in Watsonville, California.
