Born in Oaxaca, Mexico and migrated to the United States at the age of 9, Elizabeth Ramirez Barragan was raised in Santa Maria, California. She grew up witnessing the lack of legal resources available to her community. Driven by her passion for helping others, she is committed to promoting access to justice, strengthening communities, fighting discrimination and effecting systemic changes. She is a graduate of McGeorge School of Law. Her host organization is Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) in Oxnard, California.
