A first-generation Chicana, Brisely Martinez is a zealous advocate for formerly incarcerated communities because of her own experience as a system-impacted person witnessing the harm of incarceration to her family and community. She will be a systems change movement lawyer, advocating for dismantling punitive laws/policy and mass incarceration for people of color. Brisely plans to work with directly impacted members and grassroots organizations because those closest to the problem should be at the center of the solution. Brisely is a 1L at UCLA School of Law.
