Desirae Ibarra is a first-generation college graduate and law student. She grew up in the Bay Area where she witnessed many people in her community become system-impacted. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Legal Studies from UC Santa Cruz, Desirae was accepted into Southwestern Law School. During her time in law school, she was an active member of the Mass Incarceration Awareness Law Society, Black Law Students Association, and Public Interest Law Committee. She also worked for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office where she worked closely with clients conducting interviews, arraignments, and drafting motions. Her personal and professional background has influenced her to work as a criminal defense attorney in public service to ensure that indigent clients receive adequate representation and the justice they deserve. Desirae is a 3L at Southwestern Law School.
