JoAnne “Jo-Joe” Lee is a dedicated ChangeLawyer committed to advancing justice for Indigenous and marginalized communities. As an enrolled citizen of the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians of California and a lifelong resident of Richmond, CA, JoAnne’s personal experiences navigating systemic inequities—particularly her family’s legal battle under the Indian Child Welfare Act—have fueled her passion for advocacy, highlighting the urgent need for Indigenous representation in the legal system. She has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to uplifting BIPOC communities through legal and policy work, including serving as a Tribal Law Fellow at the California Governor’s Office of Tribal Affairs and as Vice President of the National Native American Law Students Association. As the founder of Urban Reziliency, a non-profit supporting 2sLGBTQ+, Black, and Indigenous youth, JoAnne merges her legal training with grassroots efforts to address housing, health, and legal disparities. She envisions a legal career dedicated to uplifting BIPOC communities through policy reform, equitable law practice, and, ultimately, judicial service to champion justice for underrepresented communities in California. JoAnne is a 3L at UC Davis School of Law.
