Gabriela was born in El Salvador and immigrated to the United States at age 16. Gabriela received undergraduate degrees in Ethnic and Chicano Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, Gabriela’s lived experience and passion for justice led her to become actively involved with immigrant rights organizations. Prior to law school, she worked as an immigration paralegal at Immigrant Legal Defense and Law Office of Helen Lawrence. Gabriela is pursuing a JD with an aim to work in public interest law and to help shape humane immigration policy and legal scholarship. Gabriela is a 1L at Yale Law School.
