Michelle Wang is a passionate ChangeLawyer committed to creating a more accessible and just legal system. Born to immigrant parents from China who fled the communist regime and cultural revolution, Michelle grew up in a low-income household in South Orange County, CA. Her mother worked in food service and her father was intermittently employed as a clerk, both facing limited opportunities and financial hardships. From a young age, Michelle dreamed of advocacy and equitable higher education, believing that improving living standards for all was key to achieving the American Dream. She witnessed the barriers immigrants face when navigating systems that seem foreign and insurmountable, in the legal field. As the translator and cultural bridge for her family, Michelle became aware of the struggles faced by underrepresented communities, sparking her drive to pursue a legal career. As a law student, Michelle is equipping herself to advocate for marginalized communities. With an understanding of the cultural and linguistic barriers that impact underrepresented communities, she is committed to ensuring equitable access to legal resources. Passionate about labor, employment, and consumer law, Michelle aims to protect fairness within California’s legal system with a legal education to shape a more inclusive system. Michelle is a 3L at UC Law San Francisco (Formerly UC Hastings).
